Frequently Asked Questions
As of 16 March 2026, my office will be at suite 215-V in Main Street South (7500 Memorial Parkway SW), just off Martin Road and South Memorial Parkway. I am located inside the main area, which is known as the atrium (look for the doors beneath the clock tower). My second story office is accessible by several sets of stairs and by the elevator, all of which are located around the water fountain inside the atrium.
Some notes on finding me:
- While my office is easy to find, it can be confusing if relying on my suite number because of the letter designation that isn't always visible. So look for the "AVAIL Counseling and Psychotherapy" sign on the windows/doors.
- From the atrium second floor, my office will be near the second story exit at the front of the building. There is a brass mailbox next to my door.
- For clients who are scheduled after 5PM or find that the atrium doors are locked, text me at 256-361-9554 when you arrive.
You can book a brief (~30 minute) free consultation for couples or for individual therapy by completing the forms below:
Once you complete the form, you will be given an opportunity to schedule from available consultation slots (via a request link) or may wait to be contacted about available openings that fall within your requested/preferred appointment times.
I try to get back to clients and potential clients as quickly as possible. Note that I typically respond to messages (text and email) faster than I do voicemails, since I can fit emails and texts into whatever hours are available
No.
I can empathize with a hatred of leaving voicemails, but if you do need me, please let me know by email, text, or by leaving a voice message.
I use HIPAA compliant voice/text and email, so your privacy is protected. However, I do not store your name with your number. So, unless I have a text thread to reference or can easily see that I have communicated with you more than once in the call history, it is easier to assume that a message-less call is just spam. (Note: I receive at least 3-10 spam/scam calls each day from spoofed numbers...)
All the digital tools I use to communicate and store client data are HIPAA compliant. Email, fax, forms, texts, and calls/messages are all managed in a way that respect and protect your privacy.
Some electronic health records (EHRs) provide a formal app that clients can download for iPhone or Android. This was the case when I used Simple Practice. While this was convenient in some ways, the features and functionality were not enough to justify the overhead.
The good news is that you don't need to use the space that an app requires to access the features of my EHR! The following are the instructions for creating an app-like shortcut on your iPad, iPhone, or Android phone or tablet:
- If you have already received your email inviting you to my client portal and created your password, open the portal link here.
- If you are an existing client and have not received the portal invitation, please email me to let me know.
- Follow these instructions for creating a shortcut for any website in most of the major browsers. This will allow you to access the new EHR as if it is an app -- but without it requiring as much space on your phone or tablet.
- Also, please remember that you can always access the portal link from a browser shortcut on your computer browser or by visiting my website (the link is in the header and footer, among other areas).
